‘Travellers and The Importance of a Healthy Mind’ is an afternoon event organised by Sligo Travellers Support Group Ltd. (STSG) in the run up to World Mental Health Day on Tuesday October 10, 2017. STSG’s event will be on Monday October 9, 2017. Invited speakers will share with the audience their experiences living with and working with mental health.
The panel will include; Darren Collins (Member of Irish Travelling Community and LGBT Advocate), Fr. Peter McVerry (Peter McVerry Trust), Patricia McKeever (Exchange House Ireland – National Traveller Mental Health Service), Tomas Murphy (Area Director of Nursing, Mental Health Services), and representatives of the Primary HealthCare Team from the Sligo Travellers Support Group.
The event takes place in Riverside Hotel, Sligo. On Monday October 9, 2017 from 11am – 1pm. Tea/Coffee available to all, everyone welcome.

Sligo Traveller Support Group was first established in 2001 as a partnership between Traveller and settled people in the community. Our main aim is to establish a voice for the local Traveller community in Sligo – to address issues of importance such as accommodation, health, education and employment, Youth, Childcare for Travellers and to counteract the causes and effects of prejudice, discrimination and racism against Travellers.
