Australia votes 61.1pc in Favour of Same-Sex Marriage

How the States and Territories voted can be broken down below, overall 61.1% of the eligible voters voted in favour of the law in Australia to be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry. 61.1% equals 7,817,247 people in favour in comparison to 38.4% (4,873,987) against.

  • New South Wales (NSW) equals 57.8% to 42.2% in favour of same-sex marriage.
  • Victoria equals 64.9% to 35.1% in favour of same-sex marriage.
  • Queensland equals 60.7% to 39.3% in favour of same-sex marriage.
  • South Australia equals 62.5% to 37.5% in favour of same-sex marriage.
  • Western Australia equals 63.7% to 36.3% in favour of same-sex marriage.
  • Tasmania equals 63.6% to 36.4% in favour of same-sex marriage.
  • Northern Territory equals 60.6% to 39.4% in favour of same-sex marriage.
  • Australia Capital Territory (ACT) equals 74% to 26% in favour of same-sex marriage.
