This coming Thursday (April 12, 2018), Carrick Film Society will be presenting a screening of the film adaptation of “Call Me By Name”, directed by Luca Guadagnino. The film is based of the acclaimed novel by André Aciman and has already captivated critics and audiences at special screenings and now there will be a screening in Carrick-on-Shannon.
The film tells the story of a romance between a 17-year-old boy, Elio (Timothée Chalamet), and and a summer guest, Oliver (Armie Hammer), at his parents’ cliffside mansion on the Italian Rivera.
Set in 1983 and against the backdrop of the protagonists’ emerging sexuality, Jewish heritage and the Italian landscape the story unfolds in beautifully sensual and melancholic manner that is sure to cast a spell over viewers.
